Finally got the wheels that I will love. Got 10 new mirror finished Alcoas. Two 24.5 steers, four 24.5 drives for the rig and two 22.5 trailer wheels. I put four new aluminums on the lowboy already. Now all 18 wheels are aluminum.
These were the first wheels I ordered from a wheel...
Here is some current pics at the shop. It should be getting painted any day now.
The three rear windows are finally cut in. The roof has been smoothed out all the way. The fenders are in place. Maybe the only 379 with a 36" flat top that has side windows. My plan is to go with 4 black leather...
Talked to the guy in the in the custom 377 at the truck stop. He had seen my L9000 before and really admired it. I had seen him before also. You are not going to get by me with a nice rig.
Definitely a huge shop. It had to be some kind of storage or distribution place at some point. They have two semi truck size paint booths and one half size. They always had some interesting trucks around. They are a fleet and trailer repair shop and do a lot of business.
They had two of these...
The shop painted the sleeper before putting it on. I was not happy about that because I am putting a rear window in the sleeper along with side windows. I had to figure out exactly what size tanks to go with to make everything fit and look right. I went with a company called Alumitank. They can...
Here is the 36" flat top sleeper. Luckily my 379 was a flat top instead of an ultra cab.
This is at the shop where I bought the sleeper. My truck is now at this shop being finished. Also some pics of a Peterbilt 389 after being run off the road and crunching the sleeper. It had to be replaced...
Here is the Peterbilt with the frame shortened. Now it is time to get the 36" flat top sleeper. I found a 36" flat top off of a 2013 model. It was local and in near brand new condition.
Here is some pictures of the Peterbilt 63" unibilt sleeper removed. Also the removed aluminum tanks. I believe they are 120 or 130 gallon aluminum tanks. Possibly even 125. I don't remember exactly.
Here is the re painted lowboy. It is currently at my home awaiting some 2" white oak sawmilled flooring. I also have a replacement set of decals directly from Witzco trailers along with led lights and other things. Also Pictures of the Peterbilt 379 with the sleeper removed. The next pictures...
I am a huge fan of the Peterbilt 379 EXHD or "long hood" to some. It is definitely the most popular of the show trucks and just has a timeless great look. I Just wanted to start a thread for the 379, 359, and even the sleeker yet classic looking 389. The 379 ran for 20 years yet the earlier 359...
I found a guy on Craigslist that does oak sawmilling and is milling some 2.5" thick white oak. I was almost going to go with 3" thick to protect the side C channel beams from side loading but they would stick up 1.5"' and that could look a bit odd since the bed of beams are only recessed 1.5". I...
Ok ok, I've managed to put this all in perspective. The trailer was sandblasted well and primed with black primer before being painted so that's most important. I just wish I had supplied the gloss paint and etch primer instead of what he used. I released the hold on the check and told the young...
