My brother in law and his friend bought a 1946 GMC flatbed from Kentucky to restore. I believe it was designate as a ton and a half, if someone knows different please correct me. It was in pretty rough shape when they got it with some rust, dents and missing panels. I didn't get any pictures until they have gotten a ways into the restoration. It was originally a dumping flatbed but they aren't restoring the dump portion and instead are making a stationary flatbed. I'll post more pics as it progresses, cab is sandblasted with missing panels fabricated, still needs dents removed and then paint, it will be the color of the wheel below with black fenders.

Wheel is powdercoated, cab will be same color

Clear oak main rails, sanded and urethaned. When I do my truck I'll use rough cut lumber on my REO to be more authentic

Wow Steve, that's a wonderful job they have done. Very nice detail, be great to see it with the sheet metal on it. Is that a 216?

Use to know a guy that worked the fishing season in Alaska, I would take care of his place while he was gone. He had a 46 chevy one ton with stake racks.
For two years something about that truck bugged me, and one afternoon while mowing his yard it dawned on me the third pass around. Shut the mower off
walked around the house and sure enough there it was staring at me. CHEVPOLET the leg was left off the R where it was stamped into the grill.
Anyone see one of those before? The stake racks still had the tag dated 1947 Nelson Truck Parts Seattle Wa.

When he got back from Alaska I mentioned the spelling on the grill, All he said about it was-you didn't see that did you.

Yah I was talking about displacement. I think the 216 would be original, I don't think the 235 came out till 52 or 53. I like the original starter pedal it has.

Shot a few more pics yesterday. All work is being done in his basement garage. Firewall had some rust holes they repaired by welding in patches, you can't tell any work was done! Entire cab was "Dustless Blasted", paint will be done professionally

The guys have made some progress and the truck is starting to come together pretty quick! I found out today I've been mistaken of the brand from the beginning, what I thought was a GMC is actually a Chevrolet! Not sure how I got confused on that. The radiator and cab is on, they have the fenders and doors back and the seat is out being reupholstered. It's getting pretty exciting now!

The truck is really starting to come together now!! They've got the fenders and doors on, seat is in and dash is put back together. It looks like a brand new truck, in fact I think it's in better shape now than when it was new!!
