That's a cool story about the pilot car service using the " 68 " Bonneville's RZ , I love it !

Make great blocker cars plus ya can pile the whole work crew in them & shag out at lunch time :D

They just don't build cars like this anymore .

I was pretty happy to get the 460 car bought . Farmer was ready to scrap the car so we caught it just in time .

Pays to attend the " Seed corn meeting " .

Oh man.
I dated a gal through middle and high school that had a (Parissiane?) with a 460. Great cruisin' car. I used to love working on that engine. It would be nice to have that again, the gal, not so much.
I'm already thinking of the 460 build thread.

Yeah Jason , these cars sure bring back memories of the past .

Looking forward to the 460 build myself , gonna do that after the snow starts flyin . Until then will run the 302 engine .

Will need some advice from you guys for sure as I tend to go completely overboard at times . LOL!

Already been looking at dual quad intakes for a 460 .

Gonna go" Bobby McKlusky " all the way on this ride . :D

Car will remain pretty " common " looking with a tire smoking mill under the hood .:cowboy

We used to call them " sleeper cars " . Looked like Grandmas car but would haul ass !

Another old car story I grew up with was Dad street drag racing my grandfather's Desoto Hemi "business coupe" with the 3 spd overdrive in the mid/late 50's. He said the only car in Spokane that could beat him was an Olds Tri power. The new car after the Desoto was an Edsel...

Fuel injection? Just think of it like a diesel with the injector in the intake runner.
They have some easy auto tune kits that really make power.

That's a cool story RZ !

And we are still doin it in 2017

I had a buddy in high school that had a 69 Plymouth Satellite with 727 automatic & fairly mild 440 transplant engine out of a motor home . Gear ratio was 2.55 or 2.70 , pretty tall any how .

I tell ya what ......... That car would " take off " great ! Would pawl just a little leaving light tire tread on the road but no burning rubber .

Pretty fast for a stock set up .:)

Yeah Jason , Imagine it might be more cost effective than the intake & dual quad carb's .

I about fell out of the chair when I saw the cost of just the dual quad intake , that's more than I paid for the car . LOL !

Took it easy today .:D

Cleaned up tires & wheels & dropped on some gloss black paint .

Painted the rest of the 302 & air cleaner Ford blue .

Old man helped me yank the hood & we wet sanded it down with 320 grit & went " flat black " on top and gloss on the underside .

Catching some cool weather & rain spell today . High temp 57 F , built a fire in the shop stove and one in the wood furnace at home .

Cleaned out the shop & pulled the Ford in . Need to install a new brake master cylinder and tachometer , oil , & temp gauges .

This car had all the idiot lights in the dash panel , don't really want to change the interior so opted for the " Hood Package "

Called the local Ford dealer first and got ..... WTF !

LOL!

That Galaxy project is a lot like my old '76 motorhome on a Dodge 3500 van chassis. I only use it for about a thousand miles a year ... If that. But I just keep piddling and "improving" a bit at a time. New rooftop A/C, Got the water heater, 3 way refrigerator and heat all working with just a little tlc. Walls and roof are still solid, added a 4K genset to make it all real cozy at the rifle shoots. Gotta go through the dash mount A/C next, It's all older hose clamp style add on stuff with a York compressor so I doubt 134 is the way to go, plus it still gets cool, just not cold. So I may be diggin' for some 12.

That sums it up pretty well RZ .

Just keep at it a piece at a time & one day she will be ready to roll .

I really like the way you outfitted the 76 motorhome . That will sure come in handy at the rifle shoot's & far away " Get Together " events .

It's so much nicer than a tent for 3 nights in a row, can't always use the shower since the fresh water tank is only 50 gallons but a nice warm spongebath is better than nothing. And once or twice a month in the summer the girlfriend and I will go to a couple of places where we can put out the lawn chairs and just listen to the coyotes and relax for an overnight stay. Usually just a 25-30 mile drive, Not bad for a $1400 initial investment. The chassis only had 74K miles on it with a good running 2 barrel 318... Still it only hits about 7MPG. Ug.
