366/6.0 tall deck Gen V / VI questions

A 95 ish topkick with the above mentioned engine showed up, a wrecker was going to swap a 454 standard deck into it but decided it was outside his realm. One of the owners friends told him the engine in the truck was a 396, another said it was a crate motor, but everybody was sure it wasn't a 366.
It is, however it seems to have a balance weight on the flywheel and the damper, back in the day 3.75" stroke cranks were internally balanced.
Any body have any idea if that has changed, and if the weight is close to a 454. (no body seems to have a 454 tall deck flywheel or damper.
This is of course a budget job so new parts are probably not going to happen just yet.

The only tall decks were 366 and 427 weren't they. I would check the serial # on block. I don't think Chevy offered a 366 in later years did they.

I know that GM offered the 454 tall deck in trucks in the late 70s, maybe into the early 80s, the 454 and 427 share the same bore, 366 & 427 (and 396) share the same stroke.

this engine has 6.0 cast into the block and the crank, but the flywheel is definitely not neutral, spun on the pilot bearing it stops in the same place every time. the damper is also showing a weight offset. which seems weird, the old 366/ 427s were internally balanced, :bangh

the crank appears to be cast, no noticeable balancing holes although I didn't look at it real hard, a soon as I saw 6.0 on the crank, I quit looking. talked to the owner, he is going to follow up on a couple of used running engine leads.
