A Model and a Brown Bear

A friend of mine that owned a W900A 1976 model, his name is Dave Holiday told me this story.

Dave had a nice W900A with a 3408 and 60" flat top worked the haul road on the Alaska pipeline from 75 to 77. At the time he was
living In Palmer, he told me he had shot a Sitka Black Tail deer. He gutted it and threw it on the drom behind the sleeper and was
taking it to a camp up the haul road for someone that worked on the pipeline. The road was pretty rough and he knew the crew
would be dressing it a ways up the line. So he drove to a good wide spot and decided to take a short nap, he set the retarder at
5 psi and let it idle.
About twenty minutes went by and he felt the truck shake and noise behind the sleeper------He opened the curtain to the back
window on the sleeper. And staring straight at him through the bars on the drom was a Brown Bear after that deer.
Dave said that bear was so close if there was no window he could have smelled his breath. He said he shut the curtain and prayed
the S.O.B. would just take the deer and go. Even with the truck idling it didn't scare him away, Dave figured he was pretty hungry.
Dave said he had a 44 but really didn't want to use it. The bear finally grabbed the deer and ran. Dave said when you see live
teeth that big one foot from your face it,s going to be a change of the Fruit of the Looms.

Dave lost that truck to a fire-he was a hell of a good wheel man. God rest his soul.
