Good all around trailers with the deck height similar to most single drop lowboys and length & floor space of a flatbed.Good combination for alot of jobs.

When I get my laptop back I'll post some pics of me moving a caboose on a drop deck. I think I told you about it in chat, that's the load where I was moving the caboose which was slightly oversize as part of a convoy with a Grove TM250, 2 service trucks, and a rollback loaded with cribbing. We were going down a curvy narrow country road when we met a house coming the other way!

Reopening this section, trying to get opinions.

Fixing to repair a 05 W900, maybe looking to add a Step Deck to my little operation and dump my Gooseneck, seems a better fit with a stronger hoss. Why is it these take such a value hit over the years? Can find a number of what I would consider decent trailers for less than $15k online ads where have not even looked at local dealer yards yet. Pointers for inspections points I may not realize?

Most are air ride, biggest thing is control arm bushings in trailing arms to axle. There are so many brands and so many out there plus
flat bed freight is and has been in the dumps for several months to a year now. There are a bunch of fairly good trailers for sale right now.

Spoke with JY on this personally, he made note is cheaper to buy new than to pay for refurb on the older models for the companies that use these, made sense. Stripping a trailer as one of us would perform to blast, clean, weld flaws, prep and repaint then rebush and reline to bring back to at near 90% of new is time consuming and expensive for larger companies where are out of a machine for the period and have to pay for the repairs we would perform on our own time and dime.

Refrigerated trailers are even worse, after five years of forklifts with slip sheet the floors are shaved paper thin. $23K to replace a floor
plus the extra to rebuild suspension and compressor. By then the unit has 12K hours, Five new 3 axle 53'ers showed up at shop------
$82,300 each.

Running Carrier or TK units TS? Have worked both some 30 years back, carrier easier to work on but spent a lot of time working ON them, TK was more dependable short term but died Impressively when got to end of life designs.

Is Carrier still having control cards issues or did they finally cure that? We used to take the cards with cooked resistors to a small shop that checked the cards over and replaced the popped resistors. What we found at Hogan was bad operating solenoids or connections to them that overheated the resistance devices. I gather they went fully electronic controls by now.
