Ran into a few snags on the truck but most are small things. Got the exhaust system repaired and installed a new six paddle clutch it had a four paddle before. Snag had to helicoil
the bell or rear structure. Snag had to replace the clutch pedal bushings on the cross shaft in the dash. And I replaced the foot valve while the transmission was out. I changed the clutch
on G-P just because I didn't want to mess with it down the road .

Finishing the small stuff up tomorrow. Had a hell of a time getting the clutch linkage right. Had to replace the clutch pedal pivot bearings/bushings. The dealers were
out of them so I just made my own. Then to reset the linkage rods, every body and their brother had screwed with those. The geometry was all screwed up from the
pivot bushings being worn out. After installing the clutch It had way too much clutch brake. Had to rest every rod end. At least those all turned and were not frozen.

Awhile back I spent 3 hours under the floor of a D-10 Cat dozer fixing linkage adjustments that some idiot played with thinking he knew more than the Cat guys that designed the thing. He should have just left stuff alone and replaced the worn out heim joints. You can compensate for wear in one direction... but not two.

Here are some pics of it before I start to strip the rear ends out of it tomorrow. Main thing difference is the new exhaust and short stacks. Although there
was a lot more work done to it.

Seeing more of the paint kind of reminds me of the older Noel Foods trucks from Yakima. Remember that last batch of 900A's they had, the tall stacks and polished aluminum everything. They were beautiful trucks.

Today's work, Stripped the suspension and rear drives out, cut the rail off and cleaned inside of rail. New outside rail and inserts will
be here tomorrow morning.

Ran into a snag with the out side rails, they didn't get the sheet square in the press brake and the lips came out tapered. Sent them back and their making new ones.
So that put a big stifle in my progress. But there are other things I can put my attention to while waiting.

If I only had a buck every time something like that got me. Grr.

Don't mean to highjack your discussion, but here is a photo of our company tow truck. As you can tell, we don't have much of a budget to work with at our school district. Believe it or not, it gets used a couple of times/month. Starts right up every time. View attachment 1729
That's a Cool IH mowingman ! Pretty reliable & ready when ya need it . Better hang on to it .

Sure understand that Truck Shop !

We built our KW the same way in the shop between working on customers jobs . Know all to well how this go's :)

Ended up having more time & money in the wrecker project then we wanted in the beginning but was worth it in the long run as could turn the key & go after whatever needed winched out or drug in with confidence .:cool:
