Run up early tomorrow and pick up the remaining wheel lift and parts. Then have a root canal done on Thursday noon plus have to take my 17 year old cat named Black Kitty
in for a shot the same day.

Picked up the remainder of the whee lift on Wednesday and installed plus plumbed it. I still have to build a fork rack for it and get the signs on put on.
We will probably test it next week.

Thanks, I got lucky no hydraulic leaks-that's a first for me. It has a cord type and wireless remote but you can't feather the system that way. So I will only use those for
directly positioning under axle then use the manual controls.

I don't know if you already mentioned this or not but I was wondering if your hydraulics are PTO driven or electric?

Hooked up and took it for a short test drive, everything was ok. And yes it is PTO powered.

Looks like it will handle a load with ease Truck Shop .

You need to find an old Holmes 750 winch mast to finish it out . It would add some counterweight and winching ability at the same time .

Looking good, Did you scale the steer axle before and after hooking up?
The steer is 9,400 hooked up unloaded it was 10,960. I can still put on 500 lbs in fuel and it will get a 500 lb lead counter weight I built that will fit just behind the bumper.

It's a company truck only not for hire if one of our trucks needs recovery it's probably wrecked so who ever is closest will recover it. This truck has to be able to come close
on scaling the weight because it will run out of state {possibly four states away} so I can't put any more weight on it with winches and such. Woodpecker has one that
weighs 51,000 empty, They can't legally tow with it and have been caught one time down 84 at the Cascade Locks.

I getcha on the company breakdown tow rig, was just curious about the axle weights. And like you said, if it needs winching it's gonna be in impound long before you get there.

Yeah Truck Shop , Any chance of the owner letting you use the truck to haul in customers outside of the company ?

Local type guys that have trouble on the road or other trucking companies . Seems like it would pay off quicker ?

It has mostly to do with insurance plus if you start towing other peoples stuff if you need your own truck it inevitably will be gone or someone wants their motor home towed.
And I want nothing to do with too many after hours calls. Every time one of our trucks breaks down it costs the company 6 to 7K in lost revenue when there along way off.
What we have in this truck equates to the price of a new Ford King ranch diesel pickup, 65K. And all you have with the pickup is a pickup. IMO.

You said a mouth full. In order to do any recovery you have to have traffic control and in Washington St you have to be on State Patrol rotation and your rig has to have a 35 ton boom
and no mechanical wreckers plus you have to have a fenced impound yard and post a huge bond. The rules go on and on.

I did not know that WSP rotation does not allow mechanicals anymore. Nothing like forcing people to buy half million dollar rigs I guess.

Have a few add on projects going on the tow truck. Building a set of hydraulic stiff legs that will support 38,000 lbs and I'm going to install a 45,000 lb DP brand winch. It has a two speed
with forward and reverse. I will post some pictures as work progresses.

Some pic of the stiff legs I have been working on for the tow truck. Just parts and pieces right now, next week I will weld the upper legs to the mounts.
