I was at a nearby dirt track this past weekend and the local Cat dealer had at CT660 on display I took a few pics, though some aren't that great. There still aren't a lot of these on the road yet, thought some of you would like to see.

For as much as a fan of Cat anything as I am, I still can't quite warm up to these. I'll bet if I drove them I would be impressed, but I still like the older Pete's and KW's with mechanical engines.

Thanks for sharing Steve!

Interesting. The first thing that sticks out to me is the dual purpose Speedo/Tachometer. Backwards from anything Domestic we are all used too.

So- anyone give feedback as to how service/warranty is going with these? Is Caterpillar servicing Body only? International for engine/so on. Just curious.

Thanks for the pics.

There are several of these running in my area as tri-axle dumps. Cat dealer told me the truck is serviced at the Cat dealer. Local dealer has two shops though - one truck and one equipment. Dealer works on all trucks, not just Cat truck engines.

I'd love to give one a shot it's just the lack of an extra $160K lying around to put into a dump truck.

I've seen a few of them go through the local dealer, most were dumps but one had a roll off frame on it. The dealer is using one as a tractor for its parts trailer I see on the road at night. I've only seen one other in use as a dump. I've done some reading on these trucks and the engine is built by International with some Caterpillar refinements and it's available with a Caterpillar automatic transmission! A pretty big undertaking, they will need to sell a number of them to see a return on the development costs.

I believe the Cat auto trans is a variant from their haul truck line. IIRC Cat also supplied on-road auto's for the military.

Dealer here has put a few into their fleet pulling lowboys as well. I've sat in one on the dealers yard, way out my price range to demo.:p
