Sure is pretty!! Are those fuel filters between the blower and radiator? I see that train horn peeking out of there too!! Nice truck!

I believe those are fuel filters. A friend had a real train horn off a SP on his truck. That was a heavy bugger and allot louder than a aftermarket copy.

That is one clean setup, I wonder how it sounds through those big pipes. I've personally seen 5 Pete conventionals with factory 12V71's, Driven a '67 Pete COE with a 12 for while... It was a total beast pulling 125K.
There used to be a hayhauler on I-90 with a red Frieghtshaker truck and trailer setup with a 12 and weedburner exhaust, I think he had a 26' deck before the state changed the length laws. Oh... there was a guy in Quincy that had a Green FL with a 12 too.

I think the guy with the red Freightliner V-12 name is Leader. Oh you know that puppy with 6" pipes sounds good:D.

The thing that got me started on liking the 12V71's was the Wabco B-70 scraper that was dad's pet. A mid 60's machine with Nelson manifold mufflers and 5" bullhorn pipes coming up through the hood... Talk about some music with twin smoke pillars. I think the 12V71 filled quite a niche in trucks before the 92 series came along, then the series 60's. 475 HP without turbos was nothing to scoff at, the KT Cummins made good power but they had weight issues and some quirks of their own too.
That reminds me, Eppich Grain had a Pete COE with a 12V71 with the rear mount turbos and an HT754 Allison trans, you never tried to drag race that truck at a stoplight.

Funny all I had to do was post this picture no words over on the HEF forum-and the chatter went hay wire:avid.

Yeah... The mere mention of 2 stroke Detroits stirs some of those guys up. Not always in a positive way.
