Mine was a 1973 White 4000 tractor . 290 Cummins , 10 speed Road Ranger and 3.70 34,000# rear's . Truck did everything we asked it to pulling lowboy & dump trailer .

I owe it another coat of paint . LOL ! :)100_4927.JPG

First truck I drove was a White 4000, had a 250 Cummins and 10 speed, Reyco suspension. I hauled loads to the grocery store chain Grand Union. Those were eventually replaced with the White Road Boss that had the 290 and 10 speed, I remember the turbo on that engine was pretty loud with the whistle, music to my ears! They switched to Ford L9000 next for quite a number of years, 300 Cummins and 10 speed, Hendrickson suspension.

Those 4000's were pretty common to see on the road though the 1970's & 80's . Good trucks overall . Only complaint I have with ours is the clutch peddle is a little stiff but ya got used to it . LOL ! :D

Sorry Steve . My clutch peddle comment was understated . LOL!

Gosh …. It's probably close to a 60 # push ! You sure as hell take the truck out of gear at the stop light !

Driver needed them " cornbread & beans " back then to finish out the shift . :)
