Have aligned with JY as to a trade into a project truck. As soon as he gets the desired pieces off the chassis this comes home in trade for the LP GMC old Chevy rust turd and misc odds & ends I have had around awhile. Needs considerable work but should be a adequate project. 2005 W900 Flat Top sleeper C15 ACERT, been hot needs head, been sitting awhile will need other pieces.

Appears all 8 air bags are dry rotted, a few torque arm bushings bad, will need full set tires(Pilot Hub 24.5s), MAY get reduced to a SA where will not need more wheels.
Found a Larson Deal where this was purchased for the other potential project truck he has, got this for $90(Elite Truck Parts), will be a nice uprate to this truck:

Getting my shop bay cleaned up and cleaned out, try to gain as much maneuvering room as can. Truck will be snug where hood will need be off until engine is running, Only 28'4" from back of door to back wall of shop area. This all the depth I have.

Back to JYs in less than 2 weeks, pickup all the stray loose stuff, haul down more of the trade stuff. Will set to getting the grey wagon ready for haul to the house.

Has been additionally brought to my attention as to CTP and IDP components in place of Dealer supplied parts for this engine internals, one Interesting component is for replacing the Twin Turbos with a single where adding a Blaylock Switchblade Variable Discharge mechanism Turbo to this could be advantageous.

Already making estimates on the engine. So far a first bid, basic parts no extras(Still need to clean and inspect) $7500. Is going to need suspension work and some Superficial cleanup.

May be in Standby for a time, someone we know is being tested for the CV19 virus!! May not be able to work on the truck to move it for awhile but should know in day or so.
Further estimates, CAT has a NEW Exchange 'Upgrade' p/n head for this, aftermarkets are running $3200-3800 range, Cat will take a head almost in chunks on this p/n at $4k and change, no brainer. IPD has a 16:1 overhaul kit, liners pistons rings seals and full gaskets with Main and Rod bearings for $3700, has cryo tempered head bolt set $500 and full set injectors flow tested at $2300(exch). Coming together. Fabick Cat has plenty Injector retainer bolts and rocker arm cross shaft studbolts

Big Weekend
LOADS of stuff accomplished and truck ready to head East to here. Just have to catch the haul equipment at the right time. Pusher axle and rack dropped, all maxi's caged, L Rr swapped to one that will hold air. Gathered up a ton of loose parts, including the head, hauled that back to home.

Once back at the house offloaded the materials, parked the trailer and readied for a week of Snot Weather rain turning to snow just a royal mess.

Today spent some time rearranging the haul back goods pulled out some lumber need to build up a work table to organize pieces of the engine after the truck finally arrives. Going to build a push head to attach to the factory tow eyes at front end so can get it in and or out of the work area as need.

Did determine will fit nicely inside building, just under 27' where building inside is 28'4" then the 10' door height will still clear as well until get it fired up and air suspension builds up, that will get dumped prior to drive out.

Pulled cam from Head, not good, either needs a Regrind or Exchange as scars on Injector Lobes, same for Rocker Rollers.

Believe or not, RV toter!! Cheap, effective, better functionality than a pickup for tires, brakes, gear train, engine life, serviceability. MAY get traded down to a T600 or M102 or some other higher end single axle crew cab but I am so done with Lightweight trucks and mass needs.

By the time one gets into a lighter truck heavy enough to tow what you want to the price goes nuts, the service life of components, tires might go 40,000, brakes on those I have seen in shops with warped rotors at 35000miles due to heat loading, juice brake tubing leaks, layovers for parts on ten year old trucks as coming obsolete, bed cracking from flex and engine life down to less than 200000 miles. My own experience Ford Super Duty was two third members one trans and misc. springs tires brakes leaks over 340,000 miles, the 7.3 in it has had enough starting to use and leak oil where once gets here is not a viable cost effective rebuilder. Plus the requirements for CDL have advanced to anything Over 26,000GVWR, a new ton diesel any truck with dual wheels is 30,000GVWR and $80,000+, put a weight tag on then cross state lines even towing a RV and the requirement exists so license RV where cannot tow anything else legally so why diddle around with little trucks?

Know and have seen the carnage of using Too Little Too Light a machine to tow the massive trailer RVs, idiots attempt to get around CDLs using half and three quarter ton trucks to abuse and hazard, just came a point this seems to fit.
