More power from M11

Yeah looked at the TecBrake but they dont make them for the L10 unfortunately. Looking for a used Jake, should be model 404D and then I will get the rebuild kit for it.
So I found out from the the mechanic that he did turn it 2 full turns counter clockwise to allow more fuel flow. So myself, not knowing, turned it 2 more turns counter clockwise. So that would have been 4 turns. But I turned it back to stock today. 4 turns clockwise. Still smoking. Seemed a little sluggish from before it was even messed with so I put 1 full counter clockwise turn on it and seems to be running pretty good. But no matter where I put that screw, it just constantly smokes. I know that some have said its an L10 but before he did anything to it, it did not smoke except for occasional white smoke that would clear up. Theres 334,000 on it. Most times you would see nothing out the stack. And the smoke now is darker.

Here's the thing with Cummins mechanical injection systems. With the mileage you have on it now the injectors and pump could probably use a tune up.
Personally I would find a mechanic that understands Cummins mechanical engines and have the injectors rebuilt the pump checked over and set up 10%
by a fuel system rebuild shop. And check the overhead adjustments again. Just my two cents.

so found out today it is number 6 injector went. From turning the fuel screw up the injector seal went. I should have had him do all of them when he was in there. So this is what I get for going the cheap route.

Sorry to hear of your problem hope it gets fixed correctly. Some people think I'm a hard a%$ for doing things by the book, but I hate doing a job twice,
and the money involved with it. Even my boss gets tired of me, but he likes the money saved in the end. Hope you get it running the way you want.

I second Truck Shop but disagree with your thanking of what caused the injector to fail.
So far as injectors go these are cheep, recon them all. It costs nearly as much to have them tested and cleaned.
Fuel pressure did not cause the injector failure. I have seen them running over 300 PSI on a gauge but the injectors did not fail. My all time favorite was the dial a torque stinger. Someone removed the plug from the governor housing and had a piece of allthread screwed into it. A nut to lock it at the cover plus double-jam nuts on the end to adjust it. Best of luck to you!

maybe it didnt then. Im just going by what he told me. Not experienced when it comes to the internals. When he said the upped pressure probably blew it, it sounded plausible to me. He told me to stop over today while he is tearing them out so I can see them so I am going to take him up on his offer.
I am thinking of getting out of this truck and getting into a tandem soon. But with this implementation of the ELD, dont know what I want to do. Really dont want that in my truck but also dont want to get something to old. Have to figure it out. Thanks for the help.
