Need help - my Ram 2500 won't start

Hi everybody,

I am new to the forum and need your help, guys. I have got a 2008 RAM 2500, 5.9 L. For 2 days already I am unable to start it. I have got fuel in tank and the fuel pump works fine, battery is also ok, no problem with it. Compression is also in norm. I have no clue why the heck the truck won't start. Checked everything I thought of, but still no idea what could be the reason. So I am wondering maybe someone here will give an idea what else I may check?

Thanx in advance! :D

How cold is it there? You might have fuel in the tank but is it treated? Quality fuel is most important.

Hi there,

Yesterday took the truck to the shop to check on the error codes, cause this thing really drives me nuts! They did diagnostics there and said that the injector failed. I called the dealership to get the quote and number of the new one (5135790AB) and the price there is around $700 (with shipping to me). Plus I have to pay for the job.... Sounds like a rip off, I am pissed off...

Injectors for that engine are available from a number of sources other than the dealer for considerably less money. Just Google "Cummins 5.9 injectors".

Thanks, Steve. I also found a remanufactured piece online, only $250 (it's here: https://www.carid.com/fuel-injectors/). I've never installed anything they call 'remanufactured', but the price is good! I am wondering, if you guys ever had anything remanufactured on yall trucks? If so, should I try out this injector?

See if you can find a review of that company's products, there are both good and bad remanufacturers. Reman injectors are not uncommon, they replace the wear parts with new most times and better ones will come with w warranty. Take a look on YouTube, you might find a tutorial on how to do the job too, just about anything you want to know is there!
