New Member with First time truck LN700

Hey everyone,

I just got a '74 LN700 (N70) dump truck, it has the 361 FT (HD) motor, 5spd with 2spd rear end. 26000 gvw and I love it... it is an awesome feeling driving that thing with a load. Now I see why driving a rig is so addictive. I love shifting but am learning the motions with the 2 speed.

I am looking for parts for this truck if anyone has any L-series parts please contact me... Thanks. I will post some pics soon... working on the lights right now.

One more thing, I love the fact that I can raise the hood and access the entire engine from both sides.. that is so great!

You will find that the two speed rearend is half a transmission gear so if you get good at splitting your shifts you will have the equivilent of a 10 speed transmission.
I am sure that you have an electric two speed these days but in the old days they used to be vacuum powered which were somewhat slower and on a long pull used to pop out of gear as the truck lost vacuum unless you let off the gas for a second every once in a while.Have fun.Ron G
