Odd R Model

Back in the 90s there was a single axle Mack oil truck I saw regularly, the cab looked like an R model. What made it unique was it had a 3208 Cat in it with a 10 speed behind it. I never saw that combination before or since. The truck isn't around anymore but I've always wondered if that was something Mack offered or was it cobbed up with available parts? Any ideas?

In the early 80's our local county road district had single axle Mack R's with 3208's in them. Not sure what trans they had, but a small 10spd would be my guess.
