I wish this photo came out better than it did, That is a grain elevator in the middle of the highway. The white dot in the center is a car
headed towards me on the other side of the elevator or flat house it's sometimes called. The unloading and loading bay is lined up with
the highway. The road veers to the right and around the elevator. I have heard story's of people years ago driving straight through.
I do know at night it has been confusing to some drivers not familiar with the road according to a deputy I know.
Wish the pic came out better but I think you will get the idea. Need to clean my windshield too.

Is that in the Clyde area? looks pretty familiar to me. IIRC there were RR tracks on the left at one time.

Elevator Row, James (my GMC 9500) and I hauled a lot of grain out of that area in the day, going to Cargill in Burbank. In the mornings I would sneak across Lower Monumental dam after dumping a load at Windust. Didn't run many empty miles that way. Always amazed me that grain didn't go just down the hill to the Sheffler barge dock. The fun trip was going to Almota hauling barley to Ellensburg, 80,000 up a 10 percent grade with a 318 was kinda boring.

Sheffler is the main grain dump and ground pile for the last 10 years plus Prescott. My ex in-laws were wheat farmers on Union Flat just up from Almota. And Burbank
is just huge ground piles these days. Average this year was 95 to 100, some 103. For someone who has never driven any steep roads. The Snake River Breakes are steep.
A good ride for them is the old Lewiston Grade. That will get their heart pumping. My ex father in-law wheat farmer was a professional trap shooter. He was a little more
than just damn good.

Have you ever been down the Rattle Snake from Asotin to Enterprise? I love the sign at the top of Rattle Snake Pass { 25 mph for the next 13 miles}. I hauled grain
out of Enterprise to Lewiston running 359 Pete 400 Cat pulling A train at 105,000 over that road.

For a great scenic drive take that sometime it drops down to the Grande Ronde River. It has great views. When I was still motorcycling I always rode that
twice a year. It became the 5th top cycling road in the US.
