Smoking out of crankcase breather.

Hey,I know this is a shot in the dark, but it's been a slow day.
Last night I was looking at a truck on eBay. Clean, early 2000s, 13L engine, 850,000 miles, problem is the truck was headed through Texas and started smoking out the breather.
It's too old for him to bother with so it's a good price........maybe. If it's not on the road making money, it's a liability.

So, any ideas as to the cause?

?
You mean the rings are either stuck or worn?
Hmmmm, purchase +$2000-$2500 for an in-frame. Not as good of a deal :-(

More than likely $9,000 and up depending on what else is wrong. For instance if you in-frame a series 60 Detroit at a dealer it can run $17,000. That's with
a new head and cutting the block for liner shims and all new piston/liner packs, bearings and other related parts. Doing it your self is still spendy.

Well I'm done building that 390 Ford and I'm almost halfway around the house with the siding. And my regular job is loaded up with work.
I'm Tired. Thanks Ron.

Ouch.
Thanks for the warning Mike.
If it had lower miles of risk out being just a cylinder. At 850K it wouldn't be with doing it half-a__
