Another warm day at the job site . Had the Old Man helping in the ditch today . He still holds his own at 71 years old , tough old bird .:D

So far skid loader and excavator made the perfect tag team for this end of the project .

Moving dozer in first of the week to hack some trees & start hogging out a road bed . That will be fun !

Took out a few old maple trees at the farm this afternoon with the dozer then fired up the KW & 750 Holmes & loaded the machine for the job site this week .

Due to the flat knife edge on these K/G blades you are always have about a half yard of dirt on the edge . On jobs I end up hand shoveling it off most of the time before loading on the trailer . We cheated today & used the Ford R/T crane to pull most of the dirt off . Another hot afternoon .

Have to load the 16 backwards as the blade would get in to the booms on the 750 if loaded forward . Stinger sticks out the rear a bit but the Old Man will run the rear blocker car . " Letter all hang out " LOL ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWEu9Rn-PaE

It is too bad we don't have more control over our destiny but I just need to be thankful for what I have and accept what I have been given.
I had a bad back pain in the last of 2011 and went to have it looked at and it was suggested that I have an xray which showed me a mass on my lower spine which turned out to be cancerous.I went to a hospital and they burned it off with radiation and spent 2.5 years on my back in a rehab and have been home now for a couple years with a wonderful woman caretaker who I met 25 years ago and I guess I know now why the lord brought us together. She makes sure I get to my Oncologist as I need to and here I am.Thanks for your kind words.Ron G

Ron , My Grand Father went though the same Ordeal with his back & cancer .

He farmed & raised cattle his whole life so the wheel chair was tough for him . What brought him the most joy was old friends & family stopping by to talk & relive the old stories of the past . He also enjoyed being around kids & catching up on there latest interest .

Hands down His favorite activity was wheeling out to the shop to instruct myself & the Old Man what we were doing wrong on a repair job LOL ! That was Grand Dad ..... Gotta love him .:D

He passed away at 71 years , I was 21 at the time so have some experience & memories of it .

We are here for ya Ron .

We started making grade with the first lift today . Fill was pretty rough with concrete footings mixed in . Separated that as I was digging it out & ended up building a small retaining wall at the end of the culvert .

Oh yeah , the last two posts were brought to you via 750 Holmes . Power went out so backed the old GMC up to the house & fired up the Miller welder . Old school kicks ass every time ! 6-V-53 in the truck was more than happy to do the job . LOL !

That reminds me ..... Need to plug in the refrigerator , The barley sodas gettin warm .:)

I know you guys are pulling for me and you keep bringing the pictures and that keeps me breathing.I swear if I could climb up on those machines I could still do a days work.I know my health staff were counting my days but I am still here.I was on Hospice with 3 months to live so if any of you have any doubt whether I have any help from my higher power he has given me 30 years of sobriety by playing the game his way so there is no doubt what he is capable of if I play by the rules.
Just think of him putting my lady and I together knowing that I would need her down the road like this,we have never married but have lived together 25 years and she needed me as much as I needed her.Nope,I didn't do this by myself.Ron G

No Doubt in my mind Ron !

You would love the HyHoe excavator . It's actually a Retired Military unit . She's olive drab under the paint & built for digging . RonG and the HyHoe have allot in common.:thumbsu

Still waiting on the pipe saddle for the vertical drop in to the 36" culvert so hopped on the 16 & started hacking trees & bustin stumps . Keeping the edge sharp is the trick , generally sharpen it 2 or 3 times a day .

Made rite of way for new road & cleared off for home site .

Putting a cutting edge on that reminds me of a power trench we dug. 1 1/2 miles long through nothing but basalt and hard-pan. The operator was going through
almost two sets of Tiger teeth a day. That Ellensburg, Wa area is hard-pan Hell. Some jobs a single ripper on a D 8 would just scrape the surface. That's when
they would call the powder monkey in.

Take care of that HyHoe,the operator will be along to run it while looking at the OD paint and wearing fatigues while smokling a crooked stem pipe.Ron G

I imagine the bit on the ripper was smokin hot when they pulled it up to change the tooth. That sure sounds like some tough ground you guys were going through !

The stinger on the K/G blade will warm up a bit after bustin trees & stumps just from the friction going through the wood .

Not to mention I'm a certified HyHoe technician . Not just anyone can work on these rig's .When the computer & GPS start acting up it pays to have a tech on site to sort it out . :lmao

We would make a good team Ron :beerc

We loaded the dirt blade this afternoon to take to the job site for cutting in the road & grading . One thing I did build for moving it without the dozer is a " blade beam " . Just an I beam with matching holes so it bolts in between the arm boss . Kind of a spreader bar and support member when hauling the blade without the tractor .

Also had my rigger helping today . He starts kinder garden training in August . Imagine he will be telling stories in class .:D

Well we got delayed over the Forth Of July weekend . My sheet steel fab guy said he was behind two weeks & could not roll my steel 24 " drop pipe .

After we got a good 3 inch rain it pretty much shut dirt work down for a few days and we went back to the idea of just going with all plastic ADS pipe . I like this better as the soil is somewhat acidic and if you get a steel culvert to last 17 to 20 years you are doing good .

Started building the 24 " fitting this evening . Stand back guy's as I get a little wild with the chain saw .

After we fit it all together will encase it with concrete . This is CM 's idea so if it go's bad I got a good " Fall Guy" LOL !

I owe CM a few cases of barley soda already .:D
