Transplant from HEF

Hi all, just joining HTF & piggy backing my addiction to HEF. I can see that I might be over on this side a little bit more, seeing how I am more related to the trucking side & not the heavy equip. most of those guys run everyday. I run the boom truck for a lumberyard & also am the draftsman here, along with being in charge of maintenance/truck paperwork. My boom truck is a '91 Ford L9000 with attached TeleStic 33. I hope to learn plenty of new things & contribute when I can. I have attached a few pictures of my truck. Thanks

No wonder that thing won't turn, look how damn long it is! I'd bet another brand chassis would require even more room. The trucks we ran would have the bogies up against your stabilizer, they were that short. They turned tighter than the Whites we had with the same wheelbase.

382" WB. The bed is 24'6" from headache rack to boom cradle. Sometimes have to haul 24'5" steel panels, talk about tight when trying to pick it off the truck. That is a short truck you use to run.

what do you mean another brand chassis? My last boom truck was a '03 International 7300 (I think) & it had the same length bed on it & same boom model also. That truck turned a lot shorter than this old Ford

That surprises me. My buddy had IH tri-axle dumps that I drove on occasion and I thought the turning radius was long on them. We had some White tractors with the same short wheelbase as the Fords and they wouldn't turn near as tight.

Nice clean truck cab redneckchevy!

Thanks Oxbow. I keep meaning to put some paint to the bed, frame, etc..., but there ain't enough time in the day & if I do get something started, I end up having to take the truck on a delivery. I don't think the boss will go for a full on professional paintjob.
