This is the model that replaced the 2400 I have in some of my other pics. Its a 240i. First one I have moved. Quite a bit different controls and it looks a lot different but it is pretty much the same size machine. It sits on the trailer the exact same way and it actually seemed to pull easier than the 2400 although according to my weight gauge its a little heavier.

I would like to have one of those paver type lowboys, it would be easy to load things on the rear section.

It's so easy to get up there it's ridiculous. Actually you have to be careful because you really don't even feel the ramps when you start up them. First thing I hauled on this trailer was an ADT. I was half the way up the ramps and didn't even know it til I got off the machine and looked. Rollers go there very easily also. I have loaded them in the rain and the drum never spun. It's harder to get up on the front of the trailer than the back. I just put down some rubber belting that I have and that seems to help a lot.
All of our other drags have the steeper style ramps on the back and even when everything is dry it's a challenge to get rollers up on the back.
Did you notice that the middle is opened up all the way to the back with dropped cross members. I can haul long reach excavators and anything else that we get that needs moved.
This the most versatile drag I have ever pulled. I have to believe it might be the perfect drag.

I have an old 50 ton Rogers and I seldom haul anything hard to load, but occasionally I would give a lot for that trailer.

Nice pictures truck. I will post some of mine here in a bit. We haul the same exact stuff. I like that decking on that trailer.

Truck , I am almost jealous . This new group I'm working for only has a tandem lowboy and I have only loaded one junk trailer on it , never even unhooked the neck LOL

Well I hook and unhook my trailer enough for the both of us :D. I haven't counted my loads since August, but I have to think I am somewhere between 800-900 loads with this trailer since 8-7-12.

Bossman is wanting to put me in a different truck and he is probably going to succeed this time. Last time he brought up this subject I told him no and he dropped it, but he is being pretty persistent this time. Its either an 07 or 08 i forget which, W900 long hood with a 525 ISX in it with an 18 speed behind it. This is the bossman's truck.

When he bought it last year, the bossman and I took a couple of loads from Cincinnati to Salem Indiana. After we got loaded I asked him why he took the heavy load because I knew there was no way he could keep up with me. His answer was " I want to see how my truck will run compared to yours". Well I already knew the answer LOL. We headed towards Louisville and after the first big hill I looked back and he was not there. I hollarded at him on the radio and asked him where he went and he said " I am coming. How fast are you running". I said my normal, 72-73 mph. I asked him how fast he was going and he said " anywhere between 35 and 85 mph and I still can't keep up". This was so funny to me. Anyway, long story short, first thing he did when he got home was start calling around to find out how to get more power. It now has a tune in it putting out about 750 hp and he can now stay in front of me but can not get away.

Here is the only pic I have of it right now.

Here's a few more pics of stuff I have hauled lately. Also a pic of a broken u bolt and block on my truck. Rear diff also went out the same week the u bolt and block broke. I guess after 1,570,000 miles and hauling heavy for a good amount of that something is bound to wear out eventually.

Not sure what the wheel base is but I know when we park next to each other he is about two feet longer than me. The main reason I don't want his truck is because most of my work is city work and going around freaking round a bouts and I don't need to be any longer than I am now. If I was driving cross country everyday I would take it in a heartbeat.

I have been trying to get him to get me a T800 if he thinks I need a different truck
(which I don't) but he wants a fleet of W9's pulling the lowboy's. He is the boss though so I guess he knows best.

Out with the old and in with the new.

Well today was the big day. Met up with the bossman today to trade trucks.

This was his truck but he decided that (in his words) I needed and deserved a nicer truck so he gave me his. I never asked for another truck as I was perfectly happy with the 9400i. It had plenty of power and drove and rode good and only has 1,579,000 miles on, so its far from worn out. I fought him on this for the last month until I finally realized I was fighting a loosing battle plus he went and bought a 2010 Pete last week for himself to drive. Thats when I knew for sure I had lost my battle.

Today was the first time I ever drove a W900. After getting out of the 9400i where you don't even know there is a hood in front of you this can be a little intimidating.
I really thought it would be a lot worse than it really was looking over that long hood. But its not near as bad as I thought and I think I actually like it. I haven't been in any really tight spots with it yet , but I guess it's like anything else, I will just have to learn more little tricks to get through those spots.

I had originally thought that the W9 would make me about four feet longer. With the 9400i hooked to my drag I was 74' long. With the W9 hooked to it i am
74' 10" which really surprised me.

The Long Nose KW's a really nice Sweet Trucks !!! ……BUT they aren't really great in town tractors …… The biggest thing you'll see is that the Interbinder had a set-back fr/axle …. great for (as you said) tighter spots …… maybe only 10" OAL longer, but probably a 10' greater turning radius …. LOL ……You will LOVE the W9, and as you also said once you've learned the new tricks you'll be fine ……..

Don't you Just LOVE your Job !!! ….. always New things happening ….. never boring …… keeps you out of the RUT ….. LOL !!!

Have Fun with the new Rig !!! …… Cheers !!!

I love the look of the W9 long nose. Had a nice one pass me today, they really look mean in the rear view. So you got a great looking truck now let's just hope the WB doesn't cause you a headache. They don't look that much different. It'd be interesting to know the actual WB of both and your impression of the differences in the tight turns and track. So the boss get's a Peterbilt. Doesn't fit in the "fleet of KW lowboys" LOl. Must be a nice one if he handed that loaded W9 to you.

So far I like the truck but I have not been into a real tight spots with it yet either. Then the power. Wow is all I can say to describe it. I thought my C-15 had power but this thing has a tune in it putting out 770HP. It will get up and go. I hauled a SK210 today with it from Cambridge OH to West Harrison IN. Brought it across I70 and there are a few descent hills across there and it didn't even know they were there. I actually had to look back to make sure it was still on the trailer.

The W9's wheelbase is 285" and I think the 9400i's is like 275" - 280". Not much difference there but the set back front axle makes a huge difference. They both drive pretty much the same but the W9 does ride a little better. I like how the 9400's cab is a little wider than the W9's but the creature comforts of the W9 makes up for that. The narrow cab of the W9 makes it a little harder to get into the bunk.

Overall I like the W9 and probably should have tried it sooner. I am glad the Bossman finally talked me into it. I should have let him talk me into it a long time ago but I just couldn't convince myself that I needed it and to be honest I am still not convinced of it, but He said I deserved and needed it so I will just have to live with his decision.:)

Onto the Pete. I am pretty sure he bought it because he couldn't find a W9 that was up to his standards. He is now saying he wants a fleet of hoods pulling the lowboys and not just W9's. He has been adding lights and chrome to it all week. He had the ECM reprogrammed the other day with the same tune my W9 has in it.

Here is a pic from today of me driving through the freaking snow. I don't care to drive a big truck in he snow one bit. The other pic is of the Bossmans new Pete. This is before He got it home. I don't have any pics of it since he got it home.

Very humble you are. You have my respect driving in the snow. No way for me. NO WAY!. Who does his ECM tune. Are they running bigger turbos to run 770hp. I know it's a rare trade to know how to tune those ECM's correctly. I know of a guy named Kurt and a guy named Rob who specialize in CAT tuning. I think a lot of people know of them. Rob is only 4 hours from me and I was planning on dropping mine off with him when I get free.

I guess I don't understand how a SBA at 270" would be any different then a 379 a 270". I thought it was just to get more cab and frame on a given wheelbase. I now they are ugly those SBA's but your 9400 looked good and I didn't even know it was an SBA till Craft pointed it out and the pic of the 9400 and the W9 made it obvious.

There is a guy locally that gets the tune from a Company which I don't recall the name of. He does it all over the internet somehow. I wasn't there when he did it. I met the bossman there, hooked the the W9 to my trailer and we went and moved a few machines while he was doing it. The turbo is the original. If you are talking about the Kurt that is on that other forum, I think I know who you are talking about. I don't know him personally although i have PM'ed him a couple times about the C-15 acert in the other W9 in the fleet. From what he has posted I believe he really knows his stuff.

The 9400 and the W9 are just about the same length front to back but with the SBA of the 9400 it really makes a difference. With the SBA the wheels turn a little sharper and it just makes a long truck steer and drive like a short truck. Can't really explain it but it makes a huge difference.

Just joined today. Truck 505 I have the same lowboy, I had it built in march of 2005 , supposedly the first roller paver trailer Etnyre built with boom wells. I had mine built with the longer neck and 4th axle provisions , have never used them yet. I have the flip ramps and the aluminum ramps to put in the center to load narrow equipment.
I am very pleased with the quality of the trailer, The only thing I messed up on was not buying it with aluminum wheels. I will post some pictures when I am allowed
