Swung by the parts store this evening & picked up a new tube for the flat tire on the truck . Outer ring was a little stubborn busting it down . Rust between wheel and the snap ring . Tire came off pretty easy .

Got it back together , tire inner flap was a little " shakey " around the valve stem . Cut out a piece from another tire flap & doubled it up .

Ya know your running old school bud wheels when they are riveted together .

That's a nice looking SB. Too bad we don't live closer I had three B block 383's and seven RB's 440's dating from 66 to 70. Three of those RB's were 67 engines with the
tall port heads plus I had six 727's for big blocks. And one 340 long block. Sold all of those engines and transmissions in the last 2 1/2 years. Except for one last 383
that I gave a guy for his Ramcharger. I got tired of the stuff and sold each engine for $450 each and the transmissions $125 each . My 84 dodge I sold three years ago.

Miracles do happen

Went to pull the shell off the winch drum to replace the cable .

Thought " Oh Boy " ........ 3/4 bolt with a 3/8 hex wrench port to remove it !

Sprayed some PB blaster on it then smacked the hell out of it with big old hammer & punch .

She gave up & came loose :)

I really like what you did with the 84 Dodge pickup , Pretty cool Bro !

I recently spotted and early 1970's Ford F-150 two wheel drive with 390 engine . She needs a little work but pretty rust free .

Might grab it & build a muscle truck out of it , drop on some mag wheels & wide rubber on the rear . LOL !

I love that stuff .

Was a hot one today at the job .

Truck runs fine in the morning then starts to sputter in the heat of the afternoon .

Little blow buy but still has life left in it .

Just don't load it as heavy in the hot afternoon . Gotta be carful anyhow as DOT is pullin people over & weighing them . Sure as hell don't need an overweight ticket on this job .

Might be a fuel problem ?

Could be with the heat you're approaching vapor lock, or you are actually boiling gas in the carb depending on the underhood heat. Is it starving or running rich when it sputters? If it's starving, a small low pressure electric pump at the tank may help.

You hit the nail on the head RZ .

I sure felt vapor locked & boiled out , the boys had me driving a green Sears concrete truck on some side walk repair at a park .

Saw cut out areas that were heaving & re poured to get rid of tripping hazards .Took my tire tool along to help bust out the concrete .

Should get done tomorrow , thank God .

I aint as tough as I used to be in hot weather .:D

Thanks RZ !

We weren't going to paint it , then one thing led to another . You know how that go's .

3 gallon acrylic enamel of yeller paint & 2 gallon of black oil base enamel .

Man ...... I am really happy with the new electric spay gun ! :)

Works like a charm , easy cleanup and no air compressor hammering all day .

Little trick I do with the black paint is mix a gallon of gloss black with a gallon of flat black .

Gotta get the rite look Bro . LOL !

Love the exhaust LOL!!

You sure have made it into something pretty!!
I bet that big old slow speed 6 cylinder sounds pretty good. I had an old Mack boom truck with a 471 gasser and a 4" straight pipe that had a good sound. Hmmm. Maybe an old truck sound thread?

Thanks Steve !

Hey , I figured you guys would like the glass pack muffler & flair tip . I has a sound of it's own for sure .

Yeah RZ , the Waukesha 404 flathead mill sounds good . Governed at 2,800 RPM and it works .

Kind of the opposite of a Detroit Diesel , The in line 6 Waukesha will pull down to nothing on a hill and just when ya think it's going to quit she just go's " Chug , chug , chug " & pulls out of it .:)

Truck is pretty tight on steering & brakes , would not be a bit afraid to take it to the drag strip . LOL !

Probably drop on some Beach Boy's when we road it to the job .;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frtVqCZub-0

I've worked around a bunch of Waukesha 145 OHV engines on Bucyrus-Erie cable tool drill rigs with 3' straight pipes, They do the chug, chug thing too. The only time they get revved up is pulling out of the hole. I think that is 1800 Rpm. Those things last forever.

Paint prep work

We power washed the heck out of the crane before paint job .

Blew off loose paint flakes that were peeling .

Any paint that was left got a wire wheel & layered sand paper disk to taper & feather out the edges with a 4 1/2 inch grinder .

Then we apply " Purple Power " cleaner , let it work for 5 minutes then blow it off with the power washer .

Customer put me on to the product . It takes of grease and softens up the old paint .

I aint no sales rep for them but it sure works :)
