Gas Exploration Truck

These trucks were perked at a motel I stayed at, I was told they are for gas exploration. The plates underneath lower to the ground and vibrate it, and by reading the return vibrations they can tell where there are gas deposits. I thought they were pretty interesting

They do the same thing around here. I was told they call them seismic trucks. The ones they use around here look like those big rubber tire milling machines. Only instead of a mill they have a giant plate to vibrate the ground. Have you ever felt those things run? Drove past one on the road while running and it felt like the whole world was shaking.

My township has apparently lost a legal battle to prevent them from working here.

After a lengthy legal battle between the Township and ****** Data, Ltd. an agreement has been reached whereby ****** will be permitted to perform seismic testing in ******** Township, under certain terms and conditions, commencing in January. This seismic testing will consist of: 1) Subterranean detonations on private property monitored by numerous receiver boxes, and 2) Operation of vibroseis trucks on public roadways. Township residents will also notice a low-flying helicopter in the area which is used to transport seismic equipment. When vibroseis testing on the roads is underway, residents will notice four (4) large trucks being used in tandem which will cause some disruption of traffic. ****** is using a subcontractor for traffic control during these operations. ****** also uses another subcontractor, ****** Geophysical, to perform all of the seismic work. Any concerns, questions or complaints regarding this testing should be directed to ******** Township, preferably via email to **********@********twp.com, so that concerns and complaints may be promptly forwarded to ****** for resolution.

You will know when they are getting close to testing. There will be utv's riding all over the place and it will look like someone ran the worlds longest orange extension cord along the side of the road.
