...probably should post an introduction.

Any of you who've come here via Heavy Equipment Forums will probably know me, but I think it's fair to anticipate that we'll begin to see members who's interest comes mainly from the trucking industry, and they won't, so here's a little about me...

As the name implies, I'm an excavator. I've owned a handful of medium and heavy trucks over the years, all dump trucks, and never more than two at the same time. To be perfectly honest, I'll get behind the wheel when I need to, but when given the choice, I much prefer digging to trucking. One thing I've figured out though, is that I also enjoy helping to create and grow the kind of online communities that HEF is, and HTF is going to become. So, I'm here to help. If there's anything I can do for you, don't hesitate to ask...

Hi all, like Digger I came over from Heavy Equipment Forums where I am mod there as well.

I too am an excavator/ site prep. contractor. Over the years I have owned a few dump trucks and was a partner in a roll-off company that we sold a few years back. Currently the only heavy truck I own is a Int. 4700 set up as a service truck.

Short term plans is to acquire a tractor, lowboy and dump trailer to add to the business. The mobilization costs have yet to become enough to warrant the ownership costs but work is picking up. The cost of mobilization plus the downtime of waiting to get a piece of iron moved will cover the cost of having a lowboy at some point. I would also like a dump trailer for clearing and demo debris, spreading the cost of the tractor over several aspects of the jobs we do.

Anyway, here to answer any questions, clean-up threads and eliminate with prejudice the spammers this board will attract. Welcome all and let's grow this Forum.

I may not be an administrator or moderator but …. as you 2 above me we share the same aspects of the trucking industry ….. I still own 2 class-8 trucks, one being a tractor and the other a tandem or as you boys call them a three axle Dump truck.

If my butt ain't parked in the excavator or Bcat I ain't make'n coin ! ….LOL !!

Hold the phone, us boys down south call them tandems for dual axle rears, tri's have a lift axle.

Hello folks, I finally gave in and came over the HTF from HEF as well. I am still a relatively new member on HEF and tried sooooooo hard not to get involved in another forum, because as my wife says "You're addicted to that darn forum". She's right of course, I should be doing paperwork now!

I too am an excavating contractor, and used to be an owner operator pulling a refer years ago. I own an 89 Pete 378, 425 3406B with retarder and jakes, RTOF 15618, Eaton 2sp 46000 pound rears, and wet kit to pull our Aspen 50 ton lowboy and occasional end dump.

I particularly want to thank all of you administrators and moderators for maintaining such a great site. On a couple of occasions I have contacted a couple of you when I suspected nefarious behavior, or when tempers on a thread and language unbecoming of the site began show itself. Just this morning I finally figured out what the little triangle underneath the signature panel is for. To CM and Digger, I apologize for bugging you and promise to use the little triangle to report a post. Thanks for all the time you all put in to keep this and HEF the fine forums that they are.

Now, I have three proposals to get out tonight so I have to pry myself away from here!
