We done our best with what we had to deal with on this job rzucker .

Was pretty much an erosion control project from the beginning and hogged out a road on the way out .

Monsoon is supposed to start mid afternoon tomorrow . On a good note at least our drainage work will get tested out .:eek :specool

Would have liked to got some turkey litter spread on it & green stuff popping up before a hard rain but caint control the weather .:D

Cut in causeway this morning for the concrete truck . Got it poured this afternoon , & Old man helped out .

Feel pretty good about it ! Looks pretty " Bullet Proof " .

Stamped the engineers name in it .:)
That came out very nice TD!:beerc

That connection will outlive the soon to be built house on the property.:D

The engineer stamp was free, the shop drawings will cost you a few barley's.

Hey , I aint worried one bit about it CM . Customer said "it's a damn shame we have to cover it all up with dirt as it look's so good ":D

The turning point on the project was when I found that Engineering firm that took Barley soda as payment .:specool

That 24" drop was pretty much the " key stone " on the whole project . It's draining the surface water in the ditch line plus gave us a tie in point for the 12" main coming down the hill . A lot of water going though it now in a hard rain that used to be flowing on top of the ground eroding the hell out of the place .

Like many jobs most of the hard & time consuming work was below the ground on the pluming & drainage end . Once we got that all done the rest was set in the seat & pull the throttle :cowboy.

Sure appreciate the help CM !

Look forward to that Brother !

What is your favorite brand CM ?

Most popular brand with my customers is Busch Light as far as overall taste & cost go . https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/29/1390/

I went back to" Hamm's Special light " . $ 10.99 for a 30 pack , has a bit of a " burnt barley " flavor but ya get used to it . Guessing the Hamm's beer is what won't pass for Coors or Miller :laugh https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/320/17193/

We moved on to another dirt / drainage job .

Customer complaint was water standing in the front yard & could not mow grass without getting stuck .

Used a tile probe to investigate a little . Funny part was after I pulled it out of the ground had water shooting up about 2 inches high .

Got a compound problem . Its an old septic bed with no distribution box , and has a ground spring feeding it . Not good !

We first attacked it by setting a new distribution box just below the tank & installed two new leach lines off of it . Line with the red arrow dives down in the ground to the old system . God only knows what's down there ?

Dropped in some " speed levelers" and will let a small portion of the water out of the tank in to the old bed and remainder to the new lines .

Next went around the outside perimeter of the old septic bet & caught the natural spring with 6 " perforated tile .

Good Lord how do I get myself in to these jobs ? It never ends .:D

Ok , this is going to work out great ! Start off on the Michelob for awhile then after the " Feel Good " sets in we head on over to the " Land of the sky blue waters " brew .:)

Bucket cylinder developed a pretty good leak at the gland seal on the skid loader . Limped along a few day's & pulled her apart this morning after a rain .

Generally leave the cylinder barrel on the machine if possible & take the rod & gland nut back to the shop .

Even this little cylinder tried to give me a little guff busting the nut loose .

Started out with a 36" pipe wrench and cheater pipe . No luck at first .

Smacked around at the top of the barrel a few licks and she gave up .

Matched up seals at shop and got it back in order this afternoon .

Take care of all my hydro cylinder repair my self . We keep a big stack of O rings & seals on hand .

At times it Damn near makes a feller want to go back to cable operated equipment .:D

Air filter

Went to fire up the 1974 359 Pete yesterday . She started fine but then got sick blowing out black & gray smoke all the sudden .

I shutter down & removed the duct work at the turbo .......... Nice ! I found air filter element paper wedged in the compressor fins along with some hickory nut shells :(

This truck has the old " Farr " cube type filter . The filter box had some holes rusted out allowing mice to do there work .

What to Do ? I never was a big fan of these filters anyway . Most of the rubber boot & elbow connections were shot as well .

First thought about sticking a K/N style filter over the turbo intake ? Looked around at parts stores and nobody had anything in stock that would fit , 5 1/2 inch diameter at the turbo intake .

Dug around at the shop archives this afternoon and found a filter that fits one of the Ford tractors . Gasket on the end fit the turbo intake housing perfect . https://www.amazon.com/FILTER-4010S-5610S-6600C-7810S/dp/B00KCRYZ5M

Drilled a 1/2 inch hole through the turbo housing to get an attachment point and welded an eyelet to a piece of all thread to hold the filter . Filter even fits well in place under the hood .

Fired her back up after the new installation and all is well again . Kind of has a rat rod look about it but that's cool .:D

Funny part was the computer showed we did not have an air filter in stock , turns out we did after all . LOL !

Squirrels, rabbits, and rockchucks can be problems too, had rabbits eat the transmission control harness on a D-6M dozer once. And had rockchucks eat all the wiring under the hood of a Chevy 1 ton. The squirrels aren't really a problem since "Frank" moved in, he's a 20 lb barn cat and absolutely hates squirrels.

I like that solution RZ !

I need a couple " Frank's " to help thin down the rodent population .:)

Where do you find seals? I had a lift cylinder on the big Toro we run at work start leaking bad and sent it out. Not only did I have the cost of having it repaired the machine was down 2 weeks waiting for the cylinder to be done. I'd love to do it in house. How about spanner wrenches?

Yeah Steve , I generally get most seal kits from a local hydro shop . Bring in old ones & they match up a kit for me .

Have also used factory seal kits depending on cost and availability . We used a factory kit on the Woods bush hogg cylinder , and on the Grove cranes .

As for spanner wrenches I just build my own . Buy the time we run around to find & buy one I can fab one up pretty quick .

Have not yet tried on line seal kits but that may be an option .

Looks like they got all kinds of them . https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_rsis_3_24?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=hydraulic+cylinder+seal+kit&sprefix=Hydraulic+cylinder+seal+,aps,210

Found one for a Toro . https://www.amazon.com/Toro-Seal-Kit-Part-1-000119/dp/B00TD957T8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495583068&sr=8-1&keywords=toro+seal+kit
